PAIN OF LOVE
Scaring silent,
On a night like this,
Even the night gale remains silent,
As if joining me in my moaning,
The wind too refuses to blow,
And breathe consolation upon my visage,
Carved in sorrowful lines,
Tears of years remote.
Only thoughts,
Thoughts streaming like River Tana down the slopes of Mt. Kenya,
Building up,
Flooding, drowning the prequel of a day well spent,
Gushing out menacingly,
Hitting hard the walls of my mind.
It’s been months, it’s been years, it’s been ages;
In my mind it’s yesterday,
My heart tired to the vestiges of feelings once held,
The conjecture that two souls would become one,
A foolish surmise of a naïve heart,
Heralds of an exited amateur spirit,
Jumping needlessly, hopelessly,
Upon the camouflaged grandeur,
Of love that never was.
Who should I blame?
You, a deceptive façade of the evil within,
Fair face, sweet lips, witty words, flawless body,
Adorned with experience,
Stealing with lies, killing a unicorn; destroying a pure soul,
Who should I blame?
Me, drunk in the delusion of your enchantment,
Idiosyncratic in my pedigree,
What should I blame?
This unfair game,
Unfairly turning what’s unfair into fair,
What should I blame?
On a night like this,
On this balcony,
Where one soul stands two souls once stood,
Watching the moon seduce the earth,
Whispering sweet nothings,
On a night like this,
You used Cupid arrows,
Pierced my chest overwhelmed in elation,
Stole my pounding heart,
Raced through my dilated arteries,
And colonized my mind full of helpless hopes.
Had the stars mouths they would gossip,
About the battles fought,
On this balcony on nights like this,
My rationale against my feelings,
My feelings always winning,
Had the stars mouths they would gossip,
About my prayers to Athena,
For my conquered rationale,
The questions asked to the skies,
Whose answers you monopolize,
Had the stars eyes they would gossip,
About the tears shed
The pain of looking snobby, cavalier,
When I can’t allow another into a bosom,
That you patent.
Why, why, why did you leave?
I’m an orphan of love.

time will tell
Even as all hell breaks loose
Even as things move from bad to worse
Even as we wallow in sorrow
An inner voice always tells me
That sometimes tomorrow
The wind will start to blow in our direction
For time will tell
Even as tides blow against us
Even as we face rejection
Even as our work falters
I still have a dream
A burning and inspirational hope
That someday the tides shall beat in our direction
For time will tell
Even as we fall into financial crisis
Even as poverty encroaches
Even as the future feels fearful
My heart still beats optimistically
To God’s good plans for us
And the bountiful future that I see
For time will tell
Even as things move from bad to worse
Even as we wallow in sorrow
An inner voice always tells me
That sometimes tomorrow
The wind will start to blow in our direction
For time will tell
Even as tides blow against us
Even as we face rejection
Even as our work falters

Hope
Flabby and weak
Old and sick
Back bent
Slow faltering gait
The ills of age
Tales of burdens borne
He stood there before me
Before my very eyes
There were too many thoughts for my mind to contain
Too many much cacophony for my ears to withstand
Too many grotesque images for my eyes to stomach
Too much emotion for my heart to sustain
Too many words for my mouth to fully utter
For the choice less voiceless hopeless and helpless
The slaves in a free country, landless in their own land
But he stood before me
Sparkles in his eyes a story of hope
In the hoarse words of an old man lies wisdom
Just as his wrinkles is a tale of fortitude
He spoke to me
Slowly; each word calculated
“They can steal money from you, but they can’t steal your heart
They can deny you peace, but they can’t deny you your soul
They take away your life, but they can’t take away your ideas
And at the end justice will stand for each and every injustice done”
I looked at him
Gracefully aged but his presence still powerful
Charisma and respect still bending before his grey hair
I looked at him
And he looked back at me
Then smiled that encouraging gorgeous smile
The same one that got Evelyn, Winnie, Graca love stuck
I looked at him
And an aura of hope drowned my anguish
Hope of a time when citizens will die of hunger no more
Hope of a time when ghettos will face Sinai slums scenario no more
Hope of a time when money scandals will be no more
Hope of when it’ll no more be Kenyans for Kenya but Kenya for Kenya
I looked at him
And all I saw in his face was hope
That night when I dreamt with Mandela
Old and sick
Back bent
Slow faltering gait
The ills of age
Tales of burdens borne

No help in sight
They sob and moan
Shout and scream
Cry and wail
In despondency and melancholy
Do you hear their voices,
In the towns, in the countryside?
Do you hear their shouts,
As they face those acts of brutality?
Do you hear their screams,
As they bear it all?
Do you the see the streams of their tears,
Flowing many years later?
They are young and tender
Beautiful and innocent
Brilliant and promising,
But their lives are suddenly tarnished
Physical pain come and end
Mental pain comes to stay
And smiles permanently vanish
Wiped away in misery
Self pity
Low self esteem
Hatred towards the culprits
Towards the world
Towards themselves
We used to always cry
Our vulnerable daughters
We now wail
Our sons and daughters
Victims of the rapists
It’s a disaster, it’s a menace
But still we live on
We remember that it happens when in news
Then forget and live on
We share the agony when a kin or friend is attacked
But then we still forget and live on
They continue to moan and groan
Shout and scream
Cry and wail
With nowhere to run to
With no help in sight
For the pain inside
Shout and scream
Cry and wail
In despondency and melancholy
Do you hear their voices,
In the towns, in the countryside?
Do you hear their shouts,
As they face those acts of brutality?
Do you hear their screams,

IF
If only you can be complacent
Even when you don’t have a cent
Learn to uphold your ego; but ego in humility
Avoiding being guilty of vanity
If only you can strive and endeavour for change
But let yourself flow with things you cannot change
And learn to rejoice in every situation
Even in a problem with no solution nor explanation
If only you can respect others as well as yourself
Serve others dedicatedly; showing gentleness to yourself
Learn to love everyone unconditionally
And in anger to be calm, keeping cool emotionally
If only you can always have faith in God
Even in situation that seem extremely odd
And learn to always have peace with your soul
Whether or not you have achieved your goal
Then you can reach character maturity
Happily and successfully achieve immortality
Reach the highest moral standards
And become wise in actions and words
Even when you don’t have a cent
Learn to uphold your ego; but ego in humility
Avoiding being guilty of vanity
If only you can strive and endeavour for change
But let yourself flow with things you cannot change
And learn to rejoice in every situation
Even in a problem with no solution nor explanation
If only you can respect others as well as yourself

My crash
Twinkle twinkle in your eyes
Teasy, lively, lovely, my lullaby,
Your visage sparkling bright,
Ebony of beauty; that’s right
The parting of your lips lights up my world
The rhapsody in the smile! To return I am bound
Your long locks furnish your looks
Lurk not in shock; my heart you rock
Covetous curves, to stare at a must
Crafty contours, the best of the best
They change the mood of my freaky world
And make be believe you got all mistress
Just our beautiful bosom says
And your bountiful booty shows
All I need in deed in love to succeed
For you I have deciphered all
Why the dogs at night howl
Why somberly moans the owl
I now know where cupid stands
Your gait makes me understand
For like a serpent gracefully you waddle
Making the single long to mingle
Your concoction conquers my head
Your cologne urges my day ahead
In my life you are my dream girl
And in my dreams you are always in my life
I love you my remedial rose
If with thorns of formidable thorns
I care not for I am your slave
Seeking affection; for you I crave
Please my treasure of pleasure listen
With your kiss problems would lessen
I write for verbal words escape my lips
Tongue tied I am watching your hips
Get me right; never have I ever been shy
Just word blocks in my throat, wonder why
But, mine in wit, though my lips are tight I write
For you for only you can make my life straight
To my crash
The picture of perfection
Teasy, lively, lovely, my lullaby,
Your visage sparkling bright,
Ebony of beauty; that’s right
The parting of your lips lights up my world
